Eruptions at Mount Lokon

~taked from KOMPAS.COM~

Tompaluan crater of North Sulawesi’s currently active Mount Lokon was reported to have spewed 11 volcanic ashes on Tuesday.
"The small eruptions are still going on reaching a height of up to 300 meters the crater. Eleven eruptions had been reported until 7.41 am local time today," said the Lokon and Mahawu mounts monitoring post officer Yudi in Tomohon, Tuesday.        Previously on Monday the post recorded up to 43 eruptions, and it is considered to be the highest frequency compared to August.  "It is possible that today’s eruption could be higher than yesterday’s," he said.
Based on seismic data, there had been two deep volcanic quakes with an amplitude of 11-14 millimeters and five seconds duration, besides one shallow volcanic quake with an amplitude of six millimeters and a duration of 20 seconds, in addition to  18 gust quakes with an amplitude of  4-15 millimeters and a duration of  10-80 seconds.        According to Yudi, the more the energy supply in the form of deep volcanic earthquakes (VA) and shallow volcanic earthquakes (VB), the more often the amount will erupt.        "The dozens of eruptions is an indication that the energy supply is still continuing and is released by way of eruptions," he said.        Yudi expected that the people would stay away from the danger zone of Mount Lokon Tompaluan  2.5 kilometers from the crater.
"It is possible an eruption can be accompanied by a burst of incandescent red hot material. Moreover, until now the status is still  level III alert and has not been lowered to alert level II."
